What types of submissions are you looking for?
We’re currently accepting pitches for plays written by or have a theme focused on William Shakespeare or plays with heightened text:

Directors proposing a specific Shakespeare play or adaptation they’d like to helm
Combo! If you’re an actor/director team, please feel free to submit together as a package.
What should I include in my submission?
There’s more involved, but to get us started:
For actors:
Your name and contact information
The Shakespearean role you’d most like to play
A short paragraph about why this role resonates with you
Resume and headshot (optional but helpful)
For directors:
The play you’d like to direct (and why)
A brief concept or vision statement (250 words or less)
Your resume or a list of previous directing experience
Links to previous work (if available)
Can I submit more than once?
Yes! Feel free to submit as both an actor and a director—or share more than one idea if you’re feeling inspired.
Is this for paid opportunities?
Flatwater Shakespeare is a professional company offering modest stipends to directors and key artists. Compensation varies based on the production’s scale and budget, but all submissions are considered for paid roles when applicable. Please note: our stipends are not designed to serve as a living wage.
